Founded in 1948, our institution was formerly known as the Taiwan Provincial Taichung Children’s Home, managed by the Department Social Affairs, Taiwan Provincial Government. On June 30, 1999, we were renamed the Taiwan Provincial Central Children’s Home. Since July 1, 1999, the governance of our institution was transferred to the Ministry of the Interior and renamed the Central Region Children’s Home, Ministry of the Interior. On July 23, 2013, due to organizational changes, we became known as the Central Region Children’s Home, Ministry of Health and Welfare.
At our institution, we focus our efforts on helping families in distress, abuse in the family and child negligence. Many of these children come from broken families and have developmental issues – some are hyper-active while others show symptoms of autism. Behind each of these children is a poignant story of despair and our aim is to create a stable and safe “home” environment where these children can experience love, tolerance and concern while we guide them through their growth.
